| Virginity is not what the Hebrew word “Almah” means. Almah simply translates to “young woman.” The woman COULD be a virgin, or she could be a non-virgin. The word almah doesn’t infer either virginity or a lack of same. Yet the KJV translates “almah” in Isaiah 7:14 means ‘virgin’, as if Isaiah had no idea what he was writing about. (BTW, many modern Xian translates now DO say “young woman”). "Virgin" in Hebrew is "B’tulah" specifically means a woman (young OR old) has never had sexual relations – b’tulah can never refer to a woman who has already had sexual relations. Ergo, the “b’tulah” was a ‘virgin’. And if Isaiah wanted to mean virgin in Isaiah 7:14, he would have used B’tulah. But, he didn’t. He used “almah” and he also said the young woman IS (present tense) pregnant, not “will be” future tense. Let’s take a look at Isaiah 62:4 in the KJV: Isaiah 62 (KJV) Isaiah 62 (NIV) Footnotes: 62:4 Hephzibah means my delight is in her . 62:4 B’tulah does not means married . MARRIED??? It means virgin! Xians still do not understand that B’tulah means virgin. Repeating above, "Virgin" which in Hebrew is "B’tulah" specifically means that she has never had sexual relations – b’tulah can never refer to a woman who has already had sexual relations. Xianity tries so hard to place Jesus in everything they read that they misinterpreted Isaiah claiming he was giving a prophetic, figurative expression describing Palestine restored to God’s blessings, not only after the Babylonian exile, but particularly after Israel’s present world-wide dispersion and establishment in Palestine in the millennial kingdom. Xian “Praise Books” even have a song by the name of “B’tulah Land”. The Xian “spin” culminates in the Xian bible, their New Testament in the conception of the church (Ephesians 5:23-27) and the New Jerusalem (Revelations 21:2-9) as the bride of Christ. I guess HaMoshiach during the Messianic Age could be married. Most Jewish kings were. We fall under Xian hypnosis when we, like they, restrict ancient usage of virgin to mean no experience of genital intercourse. We must understand the ancients on their own terms. In the Greek language, they translated Isaiah, they had no word for the Hebrew “almah”, and had to use another word they thought came close enough, like word "parthenos". But they shot themselves in the foot when they quote Genesis 34:3 in which, after the rape of Dinah, they still called her a “parthenos”. Was Dinah still a “virgin” AFTER the rape? However, three centuries or so later, Matthew not understanding Hebrew read from the Greek Septuagint and decided that "parthenos" meant specifically a virgin. So it is understandable that someone not very familiar with the Hebrew Scriptures, and unable to read them in Hebrew, might think that Isaiah was speaking of a virgin. But this says nothing about the meaning of `almah’. And therefore, we have no reason to infer that Isaiah was speaking of a virgin. After all, all Hebrew Scriptures should be read in Hebrew, or a kosher English translation certified by a board of rabbis. Nonetheless, Matthew (or the early church fathers forgers), stretching his (or their) imagination, used it to produce Jesus as being the child of a virgin birth. Remember, at the time of the early church fathers at the Council of Nicaea in 325, led by the ex-pagan Roman Emperor, Constantine, knew all about these pagan beliefs of “virgin births” from demigods, of which, Jesus fits the definition of a demigod to a T. For nearly two millennia the church has insisted that the Hebrew word “almah” can only mean "virgin." The church must hold this position because Matthew 1:22-23 mistranslates ‘almah’ in Isaiah 7:14 as "virgin." Because, sarcastically, Matthew could never be wrong – he had the Spirit of the Holy Ghost in him. Yeah, sure, he must have had something in him to distort Hebrew Scriptures! However, just a few chapter later, Xians see that the Hebrew word “B’tulah” also mean “virgin”. Wait a moment – both Almah and B’tulah cannot both mean VIRGIN. So, as you noticed, simply, with a swift hand movement, they changed B’tulah to mean, “married”. They completely changed to Hebrew words to mean something different. Xians made Almah (young woman) to mean virgin, and B’tulah (virgin) to mean married. Isn’t it strange, that Xianity when wanting to put their own “spin” on the Hebrew Bible will use Hebrew words to suite their message one way, and in the same writings will again use the same Hebrew words to put their Jesus’ “spin” on it to fit their new message. The Hebrew Chabbad and the Stone EditionTanakh reads: Isaiah 62 4. No longer shall "forsaken" be said of you, and "desolate" shall no longer be said of your land, for you shall be called "My desire is in her," and your land, "inhabited," for the Lord desires you, and your land shall be inhabited. 5. As a young man lives with a virgin, so shall your children live in you, and the rejoicing of a bridegroom over a bride shall your God rejoice over you. In the Judaica Books of the Prophets – the Book of Isaiah, the great sages Redak, Jonathan, and Rashi explain; “of your land” denotes the rest of the Holy Land, for the prophet is addressing Jerusalem – “My desire is in her” , for in Jerusalem shall God’s glory rest – paraphrases – those who perform My will are in here – “inhabited” in Hebrew means ‘possessed’ . This is figurative, for an inhabited land is like a married woman, whereas, a desolate land is like a widow, a woman who has no husband, as in Laminations 1:1. – Alternatively, your God or husband will be close to you. “As a young man lives with a virgin” – so shall your children live in you, explaining as a young man marries a virgin, which is a proper and an accepted match, more than that of an old man marring a virgin, or a young man marrying a woman who was previously married, “So shall your children posses you, the land of Israel, for, even though the land was inhabited by other nations, they were not the proper and rightful inhabitants, but like the old man and the virgin. “When Israel inhabits the Holy Land, however, that is the proper match, much as they young man with the virgin.” Xians forget Hebrew is referred to as Leshon HaKodesh, meaning THE HOLY TONGUE, implying it was the language that God chose to compose the Torah. |
